I received this book today, and it was delivered in a very timely manner and with no damage or other shipping issues. The problem I have with it is that there are key illustrations throughout this exceedingly slender volume that I am unable to see. A few are faintly visible, but all of them appear to be reproductions of copier photos. They are all dark grey, and apparently the lines in the illustrations must be the same or close to it. In any case, I cannot make them out. Additionally, I selected this particular book out of all the others because it sounded good and the price was not high but higher than most of the others. I thought I was getting a quality book. The book appears to be a printed version of a typed manuscript, laid out in book form. I actually believe that I might find it useful in spite of its being overpriced, if I could only see the illustrations. One of the problems with ordering items online is that if they prove unsatisfactory, unless they involve a great deal of expense, I am not going to go to the trouble of sending it back. I did not arrive in a package that would lend itself to sending it back, and there was no prepared return label for doing so. Disappointed in South Carolina.

I’m not much of an artist although I have tried my hand at a few things, but I have found that humans, especially faces are the hardest for me. The answer according to the author, Janie Noyes, is that if you don’t put down what the person you’re drawing exactly correctly, it won’t look right. It won’t look like the person you’re drawing. Things like landscapes you can get away with slight variations. I mean, who’s going to know if a tree have three limbs or four? But the author does say that we should not worry if it doesn’t look like how we want. Use it as a learning experience and make the changes next time. Since I’m a complete neophyte, I was glad she began with the supplies we will need, like pencils, erasers, a sketch pad, a ruler, a desk and a chair even. The author draws with pictures of people which she calls references. She starts with the hardest part, in my estimation, the eyes, and the the rest of the face before we get into the body. This is a good book for the beginning artist and I enjoyed it and learned a lot from this book.

This book was terrible. It looks like there are photo copies of images so they are dark. You can't draw an image if the lines are unclear. The words run all the way to the seam of the book on some pages. This book is not wellndesigned.

I got this book to see if it would be good to pass on as a starting point for learning to draw. I think it is okay, but the proportion measuring system may seem too complicated for beginning artists. Additionally, I was surprised the author went into drawing eyes, but did not cover other features of the face.

This book was a refresher for me. I particularly enjoyed the style of drawings. I did learn a lot of new ways of doing things that I wish that I knew a long time ago. The text that comes along with it is easy to understand and follows the flow of the lessons

Book is as described.

The pictures are nice, but drawn so lightly that it seems the copier was almost out of ink. I know it wasn't expensive, but I wish the book was better quality.
